Capital, first of the Voortrekker Republic of Natalia, then of the Crown Colony of Natal, and today of the Province of KwaZulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg is said to be one of the best preserved Victorian cities in the world

Make a walking tour of the city centre and see some of the incredible architecture such as the famous City Hall and the Railway Station of Mahatma Gandhi fame.

A drive to view the poignant “weeping cross” from Delville Wood will take you into the old residential area surrounding the University and some of the city’s well-known schools.
